Done, 1loneranger. Pity that only 13 people have turned up.

It’s built, and they will come.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, Jose. Over 20 signatures in the first 12 hours isn’t at all bad. A lot of people wait to sign such things until they see they are gathering momentum. The great thing now is to network it – tell all your friends and contacts about it and urge them to sign. I’ve emailed most of my contacts list and they are starting to sign up. If the petition to end whaling can gather over a million signatures, this one ought to do prety well, given time.

BTW, do please ask people to state their country, so that it’s clear the Declaration has international backing.

Loneranger, thanks for this. I will sign and pass it on to everyone I know.

    Well done.

The Peace Declaration website was ‘down’ for unknown reasons for most of today. It is up and running again.

Thank you to all for reading and signing.

Is it only 32 signatures up to this moment? 16 days after it started. It seems as though people would not be very much for peace.

    Shame!

It probably needs more publicity. Maybe we should start spamming as many blogs as we can.

I put it on my blog and I have to say it got very little response. But the petition site was down all that day and maybe people just haven’t bothered re-trying.

One comment made to me by someone who is in sympathy but unwilling to sign shows the mood amongst some people.
He said ‘the government will have a list of people to look at’ or something like that.
We can see from the ‘Madeleine’ campaign that it is possible to get mass movement.
Our time will come if we keep plugging away.

Boldscot, your friend’s response shows the Orwellian atmosphere many people have already succumbed to. If the names of those who sign our Declaration go down on a government list, so what? The Gestapo, or Stasi, aren’t going to turn up for us in the middle of the night just yet.

In today’s paranoidly defensive/aggressive atmosphere, anyone who advocates peaceful solutions runs the risk of being branded unpatriotic. It’s time to call the bluff of this hogwash. Remember Roosevelt’s “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.

    HI guys,

I think that 2nd day that the petition site was down for whatever reason probably put a lot of potential signatories off or just dismayed them from coming back. We’ll keep plugging away endorsing it through blogs and email. As Anti already mentioned “rome wasn’t built in a day”.

As far as some list and being timid about the possibilities of being flagged. Fuck it. I’m w/ Anti here too. If you’re worried about cyber info lists, you’re probably already on one. Read the news! And really, it isn’t as though we’re signing a declaration of war and violence and preparing to storm the hills of government here. It is a peace declaration. If I’m on the same list as Tutu, good.
