WATER FOR PEOPLE AND NATURE: ATLANTIC CANADA AND THE GLOBAL FIGHT TO
PROTECT WATER
A looming water crisis hangs over of the world. Large, transnational
corporations have begun to push for the privatization of water in
communities around the globe. Simultaneously water is being polluted
all over the world. Internationally, Canada has voted against
supporting the Right to Water. Canada also has the largest supply of
accessible fresh water and yet we lack a comprehensive National Water
Policy.
On Thursday, February 22nd, at 7:00 pm at the public Library on
Spring Garden Road, join Susan Howatt, Brian O’Neill and Julie Graham
as they discuss current issues around the Right to Water, the need
for a National Water Policy, protecting public water in Canada, and
the contamination of water sources.

That’s an interesting move, indeed. Water our most precious element is on its way to be more and more scarcer, not only in Canada – which is really stunning news given the country’s resources – but everywhere else in the world. In the south of Spain it is anticipated that rainfall will decrease by 40% in the next decade, nothing has been said yet about the Canary Islands, but I’d say we will have similar problems here.
