Assemble on the National Mall,
between 3rd and 7th Streets, at 11 am.
Rally 11am-1pm. (Watch live on C-SPAN!)
March will kick off at 1pm.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
MARCH ROUTE, MAPS & LOGISTICS
I will be updating this blog as I get info from the James contingent.
I myself am stuck here in Halifax and unfortunately there is no solidarity rally scheduled here today. So I will stick close to the phone and relay the info I get from the fam. as I get it.
There they are at the rally. Ah, Emily, my little sister the dissident. My heart beats with pride!
Way to go guys! I’m so proud of you!
The protest is getting a good bit of media coverage here in Canada along with a story about China’s “HairBoy” (a 29 year old guy whos entire body is covered in thick black hair). CTV is covering the speeches. Jesse Jackson was just on the tube as well as Tim Robbins. Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Jane (Hanoi) Fonda as well as Dennis Kucinich are expected to speak as well.
Dad, Pam and Emily are at the rally. They are located between the main stage and the capital building and say the main protest of thousands is becoming segmented. There are cops on motorcycles, horses and bikes driving on the grass through the crowd trying to contain a contingent of a couple hundred protesters carrying black flags that appears to be breaking off from the main protest. Sounds like the Black Bloc. Told dad to keep his distance from this segment, as the riot-cops always stick close to these parts of protests and he may get some residual gas if the cops get rowdy.
I will be updating about this aspect as I get info.
Well, as I speak I’m getting the first update. The couple hundred protestors have broken off from the main group at the rally and have headed towards the west-front steps of the Capital. Police are forming barriers to prevent people from getting close to the building its self. According to original plans the march was not scheduled to “take the hill”. Should be interesting.
Update 1 2:30 EST:
The rally and speeches have concluded and the James group has joined the street march. Apparently the planned flow of the march around the Capital is being redirected by mounted cops. Barricades are being set, funneling the flow into much smaller areas and smaller streets.
I seem to be having trouble uploading edits to thie entry right now. A problem I’ve never had before….weird.
Problem solved.
All seems peaceful at 3pm and nothing more on the contingent that headed up the steps of the Capital building past police.

Below, Banish the Two-Headed Monster caught the eye of Pam and her camera phone.
Update 2, 4PM EST:
The Fam. has had enough and has left the march and is heading home. The event seems to be peaceful on the whole and getting bigger all the time. Reports I’m getting say somewhere near 100,000 strong. As dad and family were heading out of the mall area they say there are more and more protesters making their way to the march parade. Awesome!

Hey!
I am so glad to see and hear about this protest.Thank you so much. It is about time that US Foreign Policy reflected the opinion of the US people. I am so encouraged to see people that are engaged in the process. KUDOS to the James Gang.

Wicked.
I’ve popped along to your blog via a comment or two you’ve been kind enough to leave on mine.
Right from the word go, I liked your blog – the Header image won me over – I’m a keen (if currently wheel-less) motorcyclist and photographer and the image of you reminded me of a lovely trip I took a few years ago along Australias Great Ocean Road. Paradise!
As to your family getting out there and doing their bit – yippee! I love ‘em
If you don’t mind, I’m going to add your blog to my own blog roll and I look forward to popping in and out and keeping in touch.

Hey Solo,
Thanks for stopping by. It’s always nice to meet new visitors. Did you do the Great Ocean Road on moto? That’s a trip I’ve thought I’d like to do myself. It must be amazing.
Last summer I did the Appalachian/Blue Ridge Parkway with my dad and uncle. This summer I’m hoping to do Nova Scotia and Newfoundland with my dad and also really hoping to ride from here on the east coast of Canada to British Columbia and back. I am a two wheel nut too. Bikes, moto – whatever. It is the only way to get around.
Stop back by anytime.
Cheers.

George W. Bush’s sentence-by-sentence speaking skills are deteriorating. Apparently, this may be due to a mental illness called “presenile dementia.” Bush may or may not be secretly still drinking heavily. Bush lied, and thousands of people died. Bush suffers from narcissism and megalomania. Moreover, Bush has been arrested three times. Bush was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bush was arrested for stealing. Bush was also arrested for a serious crime—driving under the influence of alcohol. There are reasons to believe that Bush suffers from a learning disability. Bush’s learning disability would explain a lot of things. All in all, Bush is a severely mentally ill individual. Bush is not fit to be the president of the United States.
Anti-war protesters are great.
